Just Another Mixtape: April Issue.

The theme for this month's [The Monthly Mixtape] was a "geek" theme. I dunno, but I wasn't reeeeeally feelin' it. Maybe it was "a little derivative" ("'A parody's always a derivative.' 'But it's not organic, you know what I mean?'" Ohhh, I LOOOVE you, Kelly and Ryan!).

Anyway, I just reposted my "Open Windows" mixtape (it's a mixtape of music you'd want to hear playing out of an 'open window'. whhhaaa? self-explanatory?!) and it's a litttttle long.

**A side note to the young babies out there: no mixtape should really exceed 12 songs. I know some whiners out there are saying, "WHHHAAA? NOOOO! I have TONS of good music that everyone has to hear!!" NEWSFLASH: No. No ones wants to hear it. Get over yourself and learn some restraint.

With that being said, mine's 17 songs long (I know, I's a hypocrite), but really it's "transitional": first half is a daytime playlist which moves into the last half (aka 'nightime'). Ohhh, that sounds pretty "derivative" doesn't it?? Click on the title to download it (good for only the next 7 days). ENJOY.

**OBLIGATORY PICTURE POST: "Future Native American"/Because my sister dressed better than me:
Jaya FINALLY to wore her awwwesome indigenous necklace (bought in Solvang) outside of her apartment and I FINALLY convinced her that magenta/hot pink was "her color." This was the conversation we had at Sephora:

Jaya: (after applying magenta lipstick): I look like a future Native American.
Me: "Future" Native American? Are you becoming Native American? So, not futuristic Native America?
Jaya: *SILENT "I HATES YOU" LOOK*

***BECAUSE I'M FEELING IT: Minor Threat's Stumped
My sister sent me this Minor Threat song a while back and I just FELL IN LOVE with it. I suggest you give this a listen, maybe when you're getting ready to step out or if you want to dance yourself out of bed. AND DANCE AND DANCE AND DANCE AND DANCE.... AND DANCE AND DANCE!

Just Another Mixtape: December Issue.

This post is coming to HAUUUUNT you from the paaassst.

Woka woka.

The mixtape for December at [The Monthly Mixtape] was, of course, THE BEST OF 2009. There was another option for "The Best Of The Decade: 2000s," but that was too epic of a task for me.

So here it is! It's not my ULTIMATE 2009 playlist, but pretttty close. If it were up to me, I would've gone "All Rush Mixtape"-style and just send out the entire album of Band of Skulls and The xx, with a smattering of El Perro Del Mar (who I totally forgot about! Look her up- Lykke Li-ish). Oh, and Fever Ray. I LOVE FEVER RAY (and all of Sweden).

Sooo, here is the mixtape I sent to my mixtape partner, landmarcattack. Click on the title if you want to downloads it.

::12.09 Mixtape:: Best Of 2009::
01/ Pump Yr Brakes: Amazing Baby.
02/ Impossible: Band Of Skulls (my favorite band of the year!).
03/ Beach Baby: Bon Iver.
04/ I Cut Like A Buffalo: The Dead Weather.
05/ When I Grow Up: Fever Ray.
06/ My Boy Builds Coffins: Florence + The Machine.
07/ It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry: Glasvegas.
08/ Cheerleader: Grizzly Bear.
09/ Pursuit Of Happiness: Kid Cudi.
10/ I've Got Your Number: Passion Pit.

12/ Know Better Learn Faster: Thao + The Get Down Stay Down.
13/ New Fang: Them Crooked Vultures.
14/ Crystalised: The xx

**OBLIGATORY PICTURE POST:

These are a few of the photos I loved in 2009. All pictures are taken with 100-200 speed 35mm film with 8M or regular Lomo cameras (except, of course, the polaroid picture). Digital pictures SUCK compared to grainy, overexposed, real-to-the-touch photos.

Just Another Mixtape: November Issue

Hhhhhhoooohhhhh... almost forgot this post. Woka woka.

Be entertained with this while I catch up on my weekend/Thanksgiving post(s).

This month's mixtape tape theme over at [The Monthly Mixtape] was "1, 2, 3, 4"- meaning first song had to be one minute long, second song would be two minutes, and so on and so forth. Only catch: the playlist can only be 10 minutes long.

Coooool, cool. I decided to be a team player and I played by the rules (YOU CANNOT BOX ME IN!) and the theme. Here is what I came up with (I really tried hard not to make the last few songs completely instrumental and I think I did alll right):

This is what I sent to my pard'ner, witchywoman.
::11.09 Mixtape:: One, Two, Three, and More::
01/ Moments With Oliver: Rachel Yamagata

07/ Sometime Later: Alpha
08/ Lament For The Aurochs: The Sword
09/ Into Dust (Mazzy Star Cover): Ashtar Command

Romero, for making a movie about inappropriate monkey love. I forgot to write down the full quote (AHHHHH! IT WAS FUNNY AND AWESOME!) but the main character, Allan the quadriplegic (played by an overemotional Jason Beghe), looks down to Ella, his murder-crazed helper monkey, and says, "Go ahead and try something, fuck face." I laughed and laughed and rewounded it, like, five times. Who calls a monkey "fuck face" and means it? I do now.
I wish I could find a still of Ella the monkey stealing a neck hug! Question: Can you birth a murder monkey from your spine? Answer: Yes, especially after you've bitten it and shook it to death. All pictures found on Google Images
