This post is coming to HAUUUUNT you from the paaassst.
Woka woka.
The mixtape for December at [The Monthly Mixtape] was, of course, THE BEST OF 2009. There was another option for "The Best Of The Decade: 2000s," but that was too epic of a task for me.
So here it is! It's not my ULTIMATE 2009 playlist, but pretttty close. If it were up to me, I would've gone "All Rush Mixtape"-style and just send out the entire album of Band of Skulls and The xx, with a smattering of El Perro Del Mar (who I totally forgot about! Look her up- Lykke Li-ish). Oh, and Fever Ray. I LOVE FEVER RAY (and all of Sweden).
Sooo, here is the mixtape I sent to my mixtape partner, landmarcattack. Click on the title if you want to downloads it.
::12.09 Mixtape:: Best Of 2009::

**OBLIGATORY PICTURE POST:
These are a few of the photos I loved in 2009. All pictures are taken with 100-200 speed 35mm film with 8M or regular Lomo cameras (except, of course, the polaroid picture). Digital pictures SUCK compared to grainy, overexposed, real-to-the-touch photos.

Just Another Mixtape: November Issue
Hhhhhhoooohhhhh... almost forgot this post. Woka woka.
Be entertained with this while I catch up on my weekend/Thanksgiving post(s).

This month's mixtape tape theme over at [The Monthly Mixtape] was "1, 2, 3, 4"- meaning first song had to be one minute long, second song would be two minutes, and so on and so forth. Only catch: the playlist can only be 10 minutes long.
Coooool, cool. I decided to be a team player and I played by the rules (YOU CANNOT BOX ME IN!) and the theme. Here is what I came up with (I really tried hard not to make the last few songs completely instrumental and I think I did alll right):
This is what I sent to my pard'ner, witchywoman.
::11.09 Mixtape:: One, Two, Three, and More::

Open Windows Mixtape pt. II
Here is my Open Window mixtape and this time I decided to put some thought into it. WHHAAAA? I know.
I divided it into 2 parts: the first half is "Daytime: Light and Breezy"- these are songs I would play obnoxiously loud in my car with the windows rolled down, fists in the air, and me just LOSING MY SHIT; the second half is "Nighttime: Moody"- see aforementioned description of previous half but insert "nighttime" and "moody."
Most of these songs are old because: 1\ I'm a sad, sad creature of habit and will only listen to what I know and like and 2\ New music? What new music? It's tooo much to go looking for it.
09.2009 Open Windows Mixtape:
01 This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody): Talking Heads
02 That's Entertainment: The Jam
03 Normandie: Shout Out Louds
04 Hounds of Love (Kate Bush Cover): The Futureheads

07 Sleepyhead: Passion Pit
08 The One U Love: Hail Social

10 It's A Man's World: James Brown
11 It Gets Your Body Movin': Suckers

13 Cold Fame: Band Of Skulls
14 Look After Me: Hot Chip

*DISTURBING/OBLIGATORY PICTURE POST*:
The other day, Jaya and I are jammin along in my car trying to catch the 110 freeway via the 5 when J spots the license plate of the white truck in front of us. It reads (from top to bottom): "Daddy's Little Girl... Mommy's Clone."
AAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. Vomit in my mouth, vomit, vomit mouthfeel. We saw this just DAYS after Mackenzie Phillips made the entire world collectively dry heave (p.s. A LOT).
Since we couldn't get a great picture of the vanity plate (that whole driving/moving car thing) here is this:

Open Windows Mixtape.
The September theme for [The Monthly Mixtape] at Last.fm was "Open Windows." Here is the description:
What does that mean? For the last days of summer, or if you're on the southern half of the coin the first of spring, let's make a mix that you'd (like to) hear through the open windows of your neighbourhood. The laid-back tunes that just give you a good feeling, make you break into song, attracted to strangers and have you dance on the street... you know, the tunes that make you act like a drunk in the middle of the day. Have fun and good luck making it!I was paired with A-bay, who I, miraculously, have a "musical compatibility of HIGH" (first time that has ever happened). This is the mixtape she sent me: 09.2009 Open Window Mixtape 01 Stars: My Favourite Book 02 Andrew Kenny & Ben Gibbard: You Remind Me of Home 03 James Morrison: You Give Me Something 04 Ben Kweller: Run 05 Missy Higgins: Peachy 06 Ukesperience: Oceanside 07 Tom Petty: Mary Jane's Last Dance 08 Matt White: Love 09 Mason Jennings: Keepin It Real 10 Feist: I Feel It All 11 Meiko: How Lucky We Are 12 Sondre Lerche & Regina Spektor: Hell No 13 The Rolling Stones: Happy 14 Michael Jackon: Enjoy Yourself 15 Chairlift: Bruises I've only listened to the mix, fully, once and it was all right. There are some hits (Feist is always good, as is Tom Petty) and misses (ugggghhh on James Morrison- stop. making. music.) but I have to listen to it a couple more times. OBLIGATORY PICTURE POST: Jaya found this outside her door at her new apartment the other day: WHAAAAA?? is right. Someone, evidently, went smashy-smashy on their 40" (ohhhh for realssss) TV.

This mixtape was sent to me by landmarcattack via The Monthly Mixtape on Last.fm. It is eclectic and strange; the first mixtape (yep yep it's a twofer!) is a bit 90s/college rock-ish, while the latter is screamo/emo/punk rock. What the what, am I right?
